To celebrate Woody Guthrie’s 100th birthday on July 14th 2012, Audrey Auld has created a hand-made 5-track acoustic CD called Wood.
As music in the form of mp3s has become intangible and devalued, Audrey wanted to offer fans something real. Recorded in Nashville, WOOD is presented in a hand-stamped envelope, which is individually numbered.
The instrumentation is simple - Audrey plays guitar and sings, John Willis plays guitar, banjo and mandolin, and Jess Leary and Ralph Friedrichsen sing harmonies. All songs are written by Audrey Auld.
The songs are:
1. "Woody"
A re-recording of the song originally on the 'Texas'
(2005) album
2. "One Hundred Candles"
Written especially for Woody's birthday
3. "Oklahoma Dust"
Inspired by a visit to the Gilcrease Museum,
Tulsa, OK
4. "Bound For Glory"
5. "Poverty Line"
Purchased copies are hand-numbered and include
a sticker.
